Kitengela town developments have attracted the attention of the national and county government to the point of considering to put up a modern railway station for over commuters who commute from Kitengela to Nairobi daily. The national government is financing the project under the Nairobi Metropolitan Services Improvement Plan (NaMSIP), together with the county government of Kajiado and the World Bank.

For a start, the transport and Infrastructure principal secretary Charles Hinga launched a two-lane link road worth Sh 196 million. The road will be used to transport passengers to the new train station. The passengers will also be allowed to leave their cars at the parking lot as they board train to Nairobi. This will be a great move to reduce traffic congestion on Mombasa road.
